Based in the heart of Antwerp, Belgium, NaNoi is a Thai restaurant providing authentic flavors to its customers. In order to successfully manage this brand new business and enhance both staff and client experience, the team was looking for a complete management system and decided to opt for all the applicable modules that Odoo offers.

A brand new restaurant looking for a fully integrated company management system

Born and raised in Thailand, Chef Wanna arrived in Belgium in 2012 where she attended culinary school and worked in a Thai restaurant for 5 years. But she always had this dream of having one day a restaurant of her own. When the opportunity arose, Wanna and her husband Jacques worked hard to craft the right business plan in order to make this project a success. 

During the analysis, preparation and planning phase, choosing the right software to support the restaurant’s opening was a key strategy component. The main need was the ability to centralize and automate as many operations as possible, in order to save time and gain efficiency to focus on the core business

The new management had the possibility to choose working with Lightspeed, a tool that the hired staff knew how to use from previous experience. Instead, the decision was made to implement Odoo’s fully integrated suite of applications, as its potential was obvious to the new management team. With a clear value for money, the system integrates all the applications, managing logistics, operations and finances in one seamless interface. A huge plus is also that Odoo keeps on adapting the software to legal requirements and developing new powerful functionalities to support the restaurant industry.

 It is critical for a restaurant to maximize efficiency and reduce costs. Indeed, margins are tight and costs are high. To survive, you need to stay on top of things and continuously improve, particularly in areas like purchase, labour and operational costs. Implementing Odoo as a configuration from scratch

The configuration of Odoo’s software began in June 2024, and was done by Jacques, Wanna’s husband, who has nearly 20 years of experience in ERPs. The implementation has not been without a few bumps, as activating the blackbox using IoT has been quite challenging. But NaNoi’s team could count on Odoo’s support and assistance to resolve any issues and correctly configure the different components of the system.

Going live with Odoo’s management system has been smooth, and the staff has had to learn to use this new system beforehand. 

Starting with Odoo 17 initially, the restaurant upgraded the version to Odoo 18 in January 2025 and is thrilled with the improvements fine-tuning the front- and back-office operations. The enhanced Point of sale system helps staff manage orders even more efficiently than before, ensuring customer satisfaction. The website has also been reworked to include a fully digital menu available in 4 different languages.

Since the opening, NaNoi has been using Odoo’s integrated software and all the necessary applications to successfully manage a restaurant. The staff truly appreciates what every application has to offer, as well as having a complete overview over the restaurant operations, as all modules are connected between each other. Here are some of the benefits highlighted by the restaurant manager:

 Easy-to-use interface: Odoo’s management system is easy to use by every member of the staff, which is super important for a restaurant that needs to act quickly and efficiently.

 Powerful integrations: NaNoi takes advantage not only of the Point of sale system, but also of the many other integrated applications useful to run the restaurant, such as the website builder or the accounting module.

 Reliability at all time: The staff appreciates how reliable the software is, even when the restaurant is at its maximum capacity. Odoo stays the backbone of the restaurant’s operations, helping the team run the service smoothly. 

 Efficient reservations management: Having a booking module ensures to always have real-time visibility on the seating plan and capacity. Reservations and walk-ins can therefore both be managed in a smart and efficient way. 

 Instant access to all the data: The PoS system designed for the HoReCa industry allows direct access to orders and sales information that can be easily monitored.

 Control over the inventory: After every service, the staff can see right away what products need replenishment and place the relevant orders with the suppliers, giving a better control on the stock and making sure not to run out of anything. 

 Ease dealing with the bookkeeping: The Accounting module makes it easy for the management to review the revenue, to generate the VAT declaration and to take action if needed to always enhance the sales performance. The integration with Peppol also makes sure the restaurant is in full compliance with the new regulations set by the Belgian government. 

In less than 6 months, the restaurant registered nearly 300 bookings and 800 orders, went almost completely paperless thanks to digitalization, and is thrilled to see how efficient and time/cost saving Odoo’s system is for NaNoi.
